Khartoum: Agreement Reached to Sell Three Loaves of Bread for 1,000 Pounds Starting Today

The Khartoum State Bakeries Union has announced that an agreement has been reached regarding the recent bread crisis, following meetings involving state authorities, flour mills, and the union itself.

A statement issued by the union revealed an agreement to sell three loaves of bread for 1,000 pounds, effective today (Saturday), September 12.

According to the statement, the three parties agreed to reduce the price of a 25kg sack of flour by 5,000 pounds relative to the last price announced prior to the decision made by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry.

The union emphasized the importance of ensuring flour quality and producing it with high efficiency suited to bread making.

This move follows a rise in the costs of bread-making inputs, driven by the surging dollar exchange rate in Sudan; the price of a 25kg sack of flour had jumped from 87,000 pounds to 107,000 pounds, alongside price increases for other production inputs.
