Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Musa
Official spokesman for the Joint Forces Mutawakkil Ali Wakil Abuja confirmed that, as part of ongoing military operations, the Sudanese Armed Forces, Joint Forces, and Popular Resistance Forces had fully liberated the Al-Mazroub area in North Kordofan State from the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
In an exclusive statement to Sudanhorizon, Abuja said that following the liberation of the area, the forces pursued the remnants of the defeated militia and fully secured Al-Mazroub and its surrounding areas from RSF forces and their rebel mercenaries. He noted that Al-Mazroub is located west of El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, at a crossroads linking El Obeid with other cities in Kordofan.
Abuja explained that Al-Mazroub is an agricultural area known for the fertility of its land and the production of gum arabic, particularly hashab gum, which is one of Sudan’s most important exports, in addition to grain production such as sorghum and millet. He added that the area is also an important grazing zone for camels and sheep due to its flat terrain. He noted that its location at a crossroads has made it a local market for agricultural and livestock products, adding that the population of the area comprises a mix of Arab tribes.
The official spokesman for the Joint Forces emphasized that Al-Mazroub is a strategic area, pointing out that its proximity to El Obeid gives it additional importance in connecting rural areas with the city.
