Joint Forces: Al Fashir Under Economic Siege, Not Military

Sudanhorizon- Exclusive – Mariam Absher
The official spokesman for the Joint Forces of Armed Struggle Movements, Colonel Ahmed Hussein, has belittled the Fake Nyala government, describing what happened in Nairobi as mere political heresy.
Hussein has meanwhile confirmed that the situation in Al Fashir as a whole is under control, and that there is nothing new on the ground, other than infiltrations by some Rapid Support Forces rebel elements, which are being dealt with and resolved.
He stated that what is happening is ‘’merely skirmishes, not battles’’. He emphasized that the town was still steadfast and well.
However, the Joint Forces Spokesperson told Sudanhorizon news website that the humanitarian situation is extremely complex, describing the militia’s prolonged siege of Al Fashir as ‘’an economic, not a military, siege.’’
Hussein confirmed that no military force from the militia is imposing itself on the entrances and exits of the city, but they are working to prevent humanitarian supplies from reaching the town from the east, from Al-Koma, which is (84) kilometers away, and from Mellit (60) kilometers away, and from the west, from the Tawila locality, which is also (60) kilometers away from Al Fashir. He pointed out that Al Fashir hosts very large numbers of displaced persons, in addition to those in the Abu Shouk and Naivasha camps.
He pointed out that il Fasher has not received any humanitarian supplies for a year and a half, and that the existing supplies have been consumed, and that the ‘’current humanitarian situation is very complex.’’
In this regard, Hussein pointed out that the militias have burned and looted four relief convoys over the past period, the most recent of which was a convoy en route to Al Fashir from the World Food Program and UNICEF, which was looted and burned in the Al-Koma area, located east of Al Fashir.
