JEM’S Executive Office Calls for Justice With the Dismantling of RSF

The Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) has affirmed that “every defection that weakens the rebellion and spares civilian bloodshed represents an important development in the course of the national battle. However, criminal responsibility and the private rights of victims do not lapse with time.” The movement called for ‘the adoption of an approach that balances the imperatives of dismantling the rebellion with the requirements of justice, through mechanisms that include judicial pathways without undermining the military effort aimed at eliminating the militia by dismantling it piece by piece.”
A statement issued today (Monday), signed by the movement’s official spokesperson, Dr Mohamed Zakaria, said that the movement had held an expanded meeting of its Executive Office in the capital, Khartoum, chaired by Dr Jibril Ibrahim Mohamed, the movement’s leader. The meeting discussed “organisational matters, as well as the current military, political, and executive situation in the country.”
The statement added that “any truce leading to a ceasefire must be in accordance with the principles of the Jeddah Declaration and must guarantee the assembly of rebel forces outside all cities they occupied, the protection of civilians, and the opening of humanitarian corridors.” The statement warned that “the collapsing militia would exploit any fragile truce to reorganise its ranks, prolong the war, and threaten the unity of the state through the separation of the Kordofan and Darfur regions.”
The movement also stressed that genuine peace must rest on a comprehensive political process that preserves the sacrifices of victims, alongside a security process that leads to the integration of all armed forces into the Sudanese Armed Forces, thereby achieving transitional justice and comprehensive national reconciliation.
The movement further called on the government and the Sovereign Council to adhere to the Juba Peace Agreement in both letter and spirit, and to work towards implementing all protocols that remain feasible under the current political, military, and economic circumstances, noting that “what cannot be fully achieved should not be entirely abandoned.”
In its statement, the Justice and Equality Movement also welcomed the joining of the “Eastern Falcons Front” to its ranks, describing the move as one that “reinforces the movement’s national identity and strengthens the unity of national forces.” It added that this merger would enhance political and military coordination under the leadership of the Sudanese Armed Forces, transforming political divergence into disciplined national action that safeguards the state’s stability.
