JEM Spokesperson to Sudanhorizon: We Stand United Under the Banner of the Armed Forces

Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Musa

The official spokesperson of the Justice and Equality Movement, Dr. Mohamed Zakaria, affirmed that the forces of the armed struggle movements now stand united under the banner of the Sudanese Armed Forces in confronting the rebel militia.

In an exclusive statement to Sudanhorizon, Zakaria said that the movements are an integral part of the battle to defend the homeland and safeguard its sovereignty. He added that the decision issued by the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, was aimed at regulating the status of formations that emerged in the midst of the war or those that are not signatories to peace agreements.

He noted that the forces of the movements that signed the Juba Peace Agreement are legitimate parties that adhered to its provisions, which clearly stipulated their integration into the Sudanese army under the security arrangements protocols.

Zakaria added that although the outbreak of the war disrupted progress on the security arrangements track in its due time, their commitment to the agreement remains firm. He said President Al-Burhan has repeatedly reaffirmed this, pointing out that their current priority is achieving victory in this battle, consolidating national unity, and moving forward to complete the remaining entitlements of the Juba Agreement in order to reach a unified, professional national army that reflects the aspirations of all Sudanese.
