Member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, held talks on Saturday with the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, on the sidelines of his participation in the 9tth Summit of the Great Lakes Region in Kinshasa.

Jaber conveyed to the Congolese President Sudan’s appreciation for Kinshasa’s supportive stance towards peace efforts in Sudan and the strengthening of bilateral relations.

He emphasized Sudan’s commitment to continue its serious efforts to end the rebellion, which has exacerbated the suffering of the Sudanese people and complicated the humanitarian situation in the country.

The Sovereign Council member indicated that Sudan is committed to working with its friends on the African continent and in the Great Lakes region to develop African integration aimed at achieving peace and the advancement of the continent’s countries.

The summit is expected to discuss issues of strengthening security, peace, and stability, and to issue resolutions and recommendations that contribute to addressing current challenges in the region, given the security situation and the effects of ongoing conflicts in several countries in the region.

On the sidelines of the summit, the member of the Sovereign Council will also meet with a number of heads of state and delegation to discuss issues concerning Sudan and its bilateral relations with those countries.
