IGAD Executive Secretary Receives Credentials of Egypt’s Ambassador to Djibouti

The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu, received on Wednesday the credentials of Ambassador Abdel Rahman Raafat Khattab, Ambassador of the Egypt to Djibouti, authorizing him to accredit himself to the regional organization.

Sources present at the meeting said that views were exchanged on areas of cooperation between Egypt and IGAD. The Executive Secretary reaffirmed the importance of continued joint efforts to promote peace, stability, and development in the region.

With this step, the Executive Secretary is entitled to invite the Egyptian ambassador to participate in consultative activities deemed relevant to his country. Although Egypt is not a member of IGAD, it is significantly affected by developments in the countries of the region.
