Ibrahim Jaber, member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Engineer, and Marine Advisor, affirmed the Sudanese government’s commitment to full cooperation with all organizations and United Nations agencies to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.

This came during his meeting, on Monday with the joint high-level delegation headed by Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees Raouf Mazout, and Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF Edward Gibbon.

Jaber explained that the Sudanese government has worked to open 7 crossings and 6 airports for flights designated for transporting and delivering humanitarian aid from Port Sudan Airport to the rest of Sudan, in addition to the Dabba Road and the Sennar Road. The government is now working to drop humanitarian aid to the regions of South Kordofan via Juba Airport.

The Sovereignty Council member thanked the members of the high-level UN delegation for the visit and the assistance provided to the Sudanese in facing the current crisis.

For their part, the representatives of the High Commissioner for Refugees and UNICEF expressed their appreciation for the good commitments made by the Sudanese government to deliver humanitarian aid to the affected communities through the Adre and Tina crossings, stressing that they will work to increase the volume of humanitarian aid provided to Sudan to help the displaced and refugees, especially since Sudan, despite the conditions it is experiencing, is still hosting millions of refugees.
