Growing Roles for UNESCO in Sudan

 Continuing its efforts to preserve Sudanese civilization and protect cultural heritage, as well as the attacks on museums and historical sites in Sudan by the rebel Rapid Support militias.

 It announced its adoption of a plan to provide the needs of the library of the General Authority for Geological Research in Sudan, which was destroyed, looted, and extremely important scientific documents were stolen by the Rapid Support Militia in its war on Khartoum.

 UNESCO had previously announced its adoption of a project aimed at protecting Sudan’s civilization and cultural heritage.
