Government: Sky News Arabia Banned from Operating inside Sudan territories

The Sudanese Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism on Monday stated that Sky News Arabia is banned from operating inside Sudan and does not possess a permit or accreditation authorizing it to conduct any media activity within the Sudanese national territories.

The Satellite channel has sent a media crew to El Fasher, where a correspondent appeared and broadcast reports claiming that the security and humanitarian situation had stabilized.

The Ministry confirmed in the statement that the channel’s actions constitute a clear violation of the laws and regulations governing media work within the country, as its staffers entered Sudanese national territories to conduct professional activities without obtaining the required official accreditation.

The Ministry has stressed that it will reserve its full legal right to take the necessary legal action regarding this violation, in accordance with Sudanese laws regulating media work.
