Gaza, Sudan, and Lebanon: The Focus of a Phone Call Between the Egyptian and US Foreign Ministers

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed bilateral relations and developments in the Gaza Strip, Sudan, and Lebanon on Tuesday, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf stated in a press release that the two ministers discussed ongoing efforts to implement US President Donald Trump’s plan for the Gaza Strip and to solidify the Sharm el-Sheikh peace agreement.
The statement added that Abdel-Aty stressed the need for concerted international efforts to ensure the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803, the swift formation of the international stabilization force in Gaza to assume its responsibilities and tasks, and the importance of proceeding with the formation of the Palestinian technocratic committee to administer the Strip, emphasizing the importance of moving to the second phase of the agreement.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of ensuring the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, given the deteriorating humanitarian situation and the urgent need to rebuild the Strip’s infrastructure to meet pressing humanitarian needs.
Regarding the situation in Sudan, Abdel-Aty reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Sudan’s unity, stability, and national institutions, reviewing the outcomes of his recent visit to Khartoum on November 11, according to the statement.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized the need for unifying international and regional efforts to advance de-escalation and achieve a ceasefire, within the framework of the Quartet’s efforts, and to guarantee the delivery of humanitarian aid.
