Foreign Ministry Calls on Sudanese Nationals in South Sudan to be Cautious
Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that it is following, with great concern, the escalation of the situation in the capital of the sisterly state of South Sudan, “Juba”, and other cities as a result of the attack that targeted people, property of Sudanese citizens and their shops during the past few days.
The ministry said in a statement, on Saturday, that was viewed by Sudanhorizon that the targeting was accompanied by extensive incitement campaigns against Sudanese citizens, calling on all members of the Sudanese community residing in South Sudan to be careful.
The statement appreciated the wisdom shown in the speech of President Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the State of South Sudan, regarding the unfortunate events in the capital, Juba, and his call for calm, not resorting to violence, and restoring rights through legitimate means without prejudice to the rights of others. These are the same meanings and values called for by the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, by announcing the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the events, hold the perpetrators accountable, and ensure that they do not escape punishment. The Ministry praised the important and constructive role played by the security, military and police forces in South Sudan to maintain security, prevent chaos and protect citizens’ property. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on all political, community, media and religious leaders in South Sudan to do what is dictated by the bonds of neighborhood, kinship and common culture to make efforts to restore the situation to its natural course, stressing that what unites the two brotherly peoples and countries is coexistence and love rooted in the people’s souls and pushes everyone to thwart the opportunity for those who want to sow discord, strife and hostility between the two brotherly peoples, considering that what happened is just a summer cloud that will not weaken the advanced bilateral relations between the two countries.
