FM: Nairobi’s Dangerous Approach Towards Sudan Represents a Threat to Regional Peace and Security

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said it considers the statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Kenyan government, last week, about the goals of the UAE assistance for the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia, was nothing but a mere confirmation of known fact.
The Kenyan government spokesman has admitted that the UAE supported the RSF militia and that this aims to control Sudan’s natural resources and reach the Red Sea coasts.
The Sudanese Foreign Ministry said in a press release Tuesday that what worries more was the Kenyan government’s involvement in supporting the militia. It noted that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) found weapons and ammunition in a militia warehouse in Khartoum bearing the signs of the Kenyan army.
In its release, the Foreign Ministry added that Kenya remained a major crossing for UAE military supplies to the terrorist militia and that instead of the clarifications of the Kenyan government’s spokesperson for the reasons behind this serious violation of international law and the principles of good neighborhood, he sought to justify the UAE’s support for the militia, claiming that some countries support the Sudanese armed forces, which is unfounded allegations.
The Foreign Ministry argued that the constitutional and moral duty of the Sudanese Armed Forces, the National Army, is to protect the country and its citizens. The entire international community should support Sudan in exercising the right to self -defense in the face of this wild terrorist militia and its external sponsors, as this same community had assisted in the fight against ISIS, Boko Haram and Al-Shabab organizations, the ministry added.
It remind them that the terrorist militia terrorism is no less dangerous than the actions of these terrorist groups.
The Foreign Ministry added that the worst thing that the Kenyan official pointed out is to promote the division of Sudan by referring to the so -called parallel government announced by the terrorist militia as “a peace government’’, pointing out that the United Nations, the African Union, regional and international organizations and several countries have all condemned the militia’s declaration of their intent to form a parallel government.
The release pinpointed that the African Union’s Peace and Security Council has called on all member states to refrain from supporting such attempts. The Foreign Ministry stressed that the Kenyan government’s insistence on this dangerous and irresponsible approach represents a serious threat to regional security and stability, and the unity of African countries as well as institutions within the states.
The statement underlined that the Sudan renewed through the Foreign Ministry its call to Kenya to adhere to the United Nations Charter, the founding charter of the African Union and the relevant regional organizations, to stop all forms of support for terrorist militia, and to reaffirm its respect for the principle of non -interference in the domestic affairs of other countries.
