Fletcher: Difficult Talks Held with RSF Representatives; UN Teams to Enter El Fashe

UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher, said he held ”difficult” discussions with representatives of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Kurma area of Darfur region.
In a video press briefing from the Adré border crossing with Chad, Fletcher explained that he emphasized unequivocally during the discussions that the UN expects the protection of civilians and insists on a safe passage for their evacuation and the entry of aid convoys.
UN News quoted Fletcher as saying that “progress has been made in bringing UN teams into El Fasher in accordance with the organization’s conditions,” expressing his hope that this would happen in the coming days or weeks.
