Finance Ministry Signs SMS Service Agreement with Zain Telecommunications

The Federal Ministry of Finance signed an agreement in Khartoum on Sunday with Zain Telecommunications to provide short message service (SMS), with the aim of facilitating procedures and achieving the objectives of the state-owned electronic collection and payment system, “Eisali.”

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Finance by Dr. Mohamed Ali Juma, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, while Khalid Abdelmoneim, CEO of the Business and Digital Services Sector at Zain Telecommunications, signed on behalf of the company.

SMS is considered an important tool in supporting electronic transactions within the “Eisali” electronic collection and payment system. It contributes to regulating and organizing transactions, facilitating communication, and speeding up procedures between the system and its users.

Khalid Abdelmoneim, CEO of the Business and Digital Services Sector at Zain Telecommunications, expressed his great satisfaction with the signing of the agreement, describing it as an important step toward facilitating citizens’ transactions within the “Eisali” electronic collection and payment system and a major step toward digital transformation in the country.

For his part, Engineer Haitham Mohamed Abdelrahim, representing the Director General of the General Administration of Information Technology and Communications at the Ministry of Finance, affirmed the importance and benefits of SMS for the electronic collection and payment system. He said the service would notify users of the status of their transactions immediately after they are registered, updated, or completed. It would also help regulate transactions, reduce errors by sending notifications linked to each operation, improve communication between relevant authorities and beneficiaries, reduce paperwork and reliance on manual procedures, enhance the efficiency of the electronic collection and payment system, and improve the user experience in a manner that supports the development of services and accelerates digital transformation.
