Finance Minister Pledges Support for Localizing Liver Transplantation in Sudan

Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, affirmed his ministry’s support for efforts to localize liver transplantation services in Sudan, as part of ongoing initiatives aimed at providing advanced medical treatment within the country for the benefit of citizens.
During his meeting on Thursday at the Government Ministries Complex in Port Sudan with the President and members of the Sudanese Association for Liver Care and Transplant Localization, the minister pledged support for the association’s efforts in this field. He emphasized the importance of coordination with relevant government institutions, as well as benefiting from the experiences of similar countries and leveraging expertise in training to achieve the intended goals.
For their part, the association’s delegation presented a comprehensive briefing on its national project to localize liver transplantation across all Sudanese states. Dr. Sally Mohamed Al-Fatih, Director of Medical Services at the association, explained that the project will initially be implemented in four states: the Red Sea, Al-Jazira, Blue Nile, and White Nile.
She noted that the intervention will include raising public awareness, compiling patient data, training medical personnel, and establishing three permanent working teams in each state to complete the project.
The association also pledged to mobilize all its capabilities and utilize its international partnerships with similar institutions and organizations to support liver transplantation localization efforts and enhance health awareness across the country.
