Finance Minister Discusses Economic and Humanitarian Situation with Swiss Envoy

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, met in Khartoum on Wednesday with a visiting Swiss delegation led by Ambassador Anders Baum and the Swiss Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Sylvain Astier. The meeting reviewed the overall economic and humanitarian situation in the country, as well as the ministry’s efforts to achieve economic stability.
The minister explained that restoring security, facilitating the return of Sudanese refugees and internally displaced persons to their homes, rehabilitating infrastructure, and advancing reconstruction are among the state’s top priorities. He called on Switzerland, the international community, and international development and financial institutions to support Sudan and provide the necessary assistance to rebuild what was destroyed by the war.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance’s media office, the meeting also discussed several issues, including the government’s efforts to achieve peace, protect civilians, open humanitarian corridors, advance Sudanese national dialogue, and enhance economic cooperation between the two sides across various sectors.
For his part, Swiss envoy Ambassador Anders Baum affirmed his country’s readiness to provide technical support aimed at achieving peace and stability in Sudan.
