Federal Minister of Health Discusses the Humanitarian Situation with Representatives of International Organizations in Sudan
e Acting Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, discussed in his office in Port Sudan today, on Friday, with a gathering of international organizations working in the health and humanitarian field, the humanitarian situation in Sudan and following up on the work of the organizations in Sudan.
The meeting discussed many issues and topics, most notably the issue of displacement and displaced people from various states, including the latter from Sennar state to Gedaref and Blue Nile states, and how to provide assistance to them.
The United Nations Population Fund presented a paper on displacement and displaced persons, aid and support for them, identifying their numbers and conditions, and identifying their needs to be met. The meeting also discussed the division and coordination of roles between organizations in the different states, which in turn presented what it provided and in which state and its needs, as well as preparing for the fall season, as it necessitates its own methods of aid.
The attendees agreed on the regularity of the meeting and determined that it should be monthly to follow up on the work of the organizations and discuss developments with them.
The Minister stressed the importance of coordination and partnerships, especially since Sudan is experiencing a period of emergency as a result of the war.
