Egyptian FM Holds Talks in Port Sudan

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan met today with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Badr Abdelatty.
Sudanese Foreign Minister Mohieldin Salem said that his Egyptian counterpart’s visit comes within the framework of ongoing consultations between the leadership of the two countries to strengthen areas of joint cooperation and consolidate bilateral relations.
He highlighted Egypt’s role in supporting Sudan and its people, standing with them during the current crisis, and stressed that both countries will work together to address the challenges imposed on the Sudanese people by the war, which, he noted, was fueled by external actors.
For his part, the Egyptian Foreign Minister stated that he conveyed a message of support and solidarity from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council.
He said the meeting addressed Egypt’s efforts to end the war in Sudan through engagement across all international platforms, including the International Quartet Mechanism, aimed at securing a humanitarian truce leading to an immediate ceasefire and the launch of a political process that paves the way for Sudanese-Sudanese consensus and the building of a new Sudan based on security, stability, and peace.
He further noted that Egypt looks forward to welcoming President Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan later this month to participate in the inauguration of the Egyptian Museum.
Abdelatty reaffirmed his country’s support for Sudan and its national institutions, particularly the armed forces, stressing the strong will of both nations to advance cooperation. He confirmed Egypt’s readiness to provide all forms of support to Sudan and contribute to rebuilding what was destroyed by the war, in a way that safeguards the capabilities of the Sudanese people.
