Dr. Lamia in a Farewell Message, Expresses Gratitude for PM

Dr. Lamia Abdel Ghaffar, former Minister of Cabinet Affairs bade a high emotional farewell to her colleagues in the Cabinet and the staff of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers,, thanking Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris and the country’s top leadership for the trust they had placed in her during her appointment.
In a message circulated on social media, Dr. Lamia stated that she received news of her relief late Thursday evening, March 12, 2026, while on vacation with her family outside Sudan. She indicated that the Prime Minister had previously spoken to her about his desire to relieve her of her duties for reasons not related to her performance. However, she has not elaborated on those reasons.
The former minister expressed her gratitude to “the Prime Minister of the Government of Hope and the country’s leadership for the trust they placed in me by appointing me as the first Minister of Cabinet Affairs during this complex historical time.”
She said she was honored to be “the first Sudanese lady to hold this position,” and that she accepted the appointment “in recognition of the critical stage our country is going through and in commitment to contributing to the recovery of the Sudanese state from foreign conspiracy and the hijacking of which the rebel militia was one of the tools.”
Dr. Lamia listed examples of the tasks she prioritized since assuming office, saying that she exerted her utmost effort “to serve the nation and contribute to reforming the state apparatus, which was affected by the significant gap created by the absence of a mandated civilian government.”
She added that immediately upon her appointment, she worked on preparing an urgent plan for the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs to implement several programs, most notably restoring information and data systems, preserving all ministry documents and archives, restoring the system and structure of the Cabinet’s work, including organizing meetings of the Council, ministerial sectors, and joint technical committees, approving Resolution 170 concerning the definition of the executive government’s tasks and responsibilities, discussing economic issues and the people’s livelihoods, consolidating social peace, reviewing civil service personnel records and developing a plan for their reintegration, and maintaining and renovating the Cabinet headquarters in Khartoum.
In her message, she noted that the Cabinet Affairs Ministry had launched several projects for the years 2026-2027, including the Civil Service Reform and Development Project, the Total Quality Management and Institutional Oversight Project, and the Decision Support and Public Policy Center Project.
She concluded her message by expressing her sincere thanks and appreciation to her fellow ministers in the Government of Hope for their cooperation, and to the staff of the General Secretariat of the Cabinet and its affiliated units, as well as all those who assisted and cooperated with her in serving the nation and its citizens. She declared that she would not withhold from her country her expertise and would remain committed to serving the homeland from any position.
