Diplomatic Source to “Sudanhorizon”: The Boycott of Kenyan Products Will Escalate

Sudanhorizon – Maryam Abshir – Exclusive
A senior diplomatic source revealed to the Sudanhorizon news website that Sudan will take further steps to boycott Kenyan products and interests.
The source indicated that the boycott measures will be implemented gradually and in phases, stating: “We are currently monitoring the impact of halting tea imports.” He noted that the Sudanese government’s decision to stop importing Kenyan tea has already had significant effects and exerted pressure on the Kenyan government from tea exporters. He emphasized that Sudan is one of the largest importers of Kenyan tea.
Previously, the Sudanese government recalled its accredited ambassador to Nairobi, Kamal Jabara, in protest against Kenya hosting the signing ceremony of a charter by the Rapid Support Forces militia and its allies, which aims to divide and fragment Sudan. This move was seen as a clear challenge to the principles and regulations of the African Union. Sudan followed this with an additional step of an economic nature—halting the importation of Kenyan tea.
