Defense and Interior Ministers Take the Oath of Office Before Sovereignty Council Chairman

Lieutenant General Hassan Daoud Kian was sworn in today, on Saturday, before the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan. Lieutenant General Hassan Daoud Kian was sworn in as Minister of Defense and Lieutenant General Babiker Samra Mustafa as Minister of Interior.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the Transitional Prime Minister, Dr. Kamil Idris, the Secretary-General of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Dr. Mohamed Al-Gali Ali Youssef, and the Head of the Judiciary in the Red Sea State, representing the Chief Justice.

In a press statement, Lieutenant General Hassan Daoud Kian expressed his deep appreciation to the country’s leadership for the confidence they placed in him by appointing him Minister of Defense, noting that the country is going through difficult circumstances that require unity to preserve the territorial integrity of Sudan.

The Minister of Defense affirmed his commitment to achieving security, stability, and peace, and defending Sudan’s sovereignty. He said, “We will work in coordination and cooperation with various state agencies to achieve Sudan’s supreme goals and meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people.”

The Minister of Defense said, “We assure the Sudanese people that we will be a reliable hand in ensuring the country’s unity. We will strive to achieve the rule of law in Sudan and hold accountable all those who fail to fulfill their duties.” He emphasized the importance of national unity in building Sudan.

He praised the sacrifices and bravery of the armed forces, the joint forces, the mobilized forces, and the popular resistance in defending the homeland, its territory, its unity, and its sovereignty.

The Minister of Defense emphasized the necessity of achieving peace, security, and stability to achieve the desired development, stressing that the armed forces will work to fill the gaps, protect the Sudanese economy, and preserve the country’s gains.

For his part, Lieutenant General Babiker Samra Mustafa, Minister of Interior, indicated that Sudan is facing security challenges, affirming the state’s ability to overcome them. He praised the victories achieved by the armed forces and its supporting forces, adding that the armed forces are capable of defeating the terrorist militias. And defeat it.

He pointed to the Ministry of Interior’s role in the coming period in establishing security and providing services to citizens, noting that an emergency security plan will be developed to enforce the state’s authority and the rule of law.
