Death Toll from Drone Attack on Atbara Rises to Five

The River Nile State Security Committee announced that the death toll from the drone attack targeting the Atbara transformer station on Thursday has risen to five martyrs, including a child and four members of the regular forces.

The committee stated that the martyrs are Sergeant Malik Hamad Banani Mohammed and Sergeant Omar Sani Saleh Moussa of the Sudanese Armed Forces; Police Sergeant Mahmoud Mohammed Taher and Police Corporal Moataz Mohammed Hussein of the Civil Defense Police in Ad-Damer locality; and the child Yusra Abdullah Mohammed Adam from the Aqeedat Al-Doum area in Al-Muqrin.

In a statement, the State Security Committee affirmed that the blood of these martyrs will not be shed in vain, stressing that such desperate attempts by mercenary militias will only increase the Sudanese people’s determination, resolve, steadfastness, and unity around their armed forces.

The committee further confirmed that the vital institutions being targeted in this war belong to the Sudanese people, underscoring that these militias are targeting Sudanese citizens themselves and their property.

The Security Committee reassured residents of the state that the government and relevant authorities immediately began repairing the damage that affected the transformers.

Meanwhile, the Governor of River Nile State, Mohammed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majid Abu Quroun, along with the Security Committee, conducted a field visit to assess the extent of the damage to the Al-Muqrin power transformer station, directing intensified efforts to accelerate repair operations and restore services.
