Darfur Civil Groups Consider the Nairobi Charter a National Betrayal

A group of civil entities from Darfur has launched an alliance of 18 organizations under the name of “Dignity Coalition for the People of Darfur”.
The group has announced at a press conference held in Port Sudan, on the occasion of the announcement of the new alliance, their condemnation of “signing the founding charter of the Rapid Support Militia and its agents” in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, recently, and described it as a betrayal of the homeland.
The representative of the “Dignity Charter” signing committee, Ibrahim Muhammad Adam Sultan, said that the charter aims to unite the entities and coordination committees in Darfur.
Sultan has called during the press conference for the unity and for rallying around the armed forces in the battle of dignity that seeks to cleanse the country from militias.
For his part, the representative of the Masalit, Yaqoub Al-Malik, has described what took place in Nairobi is a crime and a shame on the forehead of the Darfur region, calling on the loyal people of the region to be careful and oppose the establishment of a parallel state.
Malik has expressed the readiness of the coalition, comprising all its entities, to support the armed forces and other forces aligned with SAF and to stand with them in one trench. He stressed that the presence of the Rapid Support Militia in the region was not tolerated by the people and that and that what happened in Nairobi only represents the signatories. He indicating that Darfur comprises 98 tribes and that those who signed the Nairobi Charter were but a limited and isolated group.
For his part, the representative of the Rizeigat tribe, Emir Mohammed Al-Amin Madibou, said that the coalition aims to unify the entities of Darfur, condemning what happened in Nairobi recently which he said was attempt by the Rapid Support Forces militias and its supporters to establish a state in Darfur.
In the same context, the representative of the Taaisha tribe, Abdul-Moneim Ambadi, said that the coalition gathering was aimed to show solidarity, indicating that the coordination and entities under the Dignity Alliance have pledged to unify efforts and support the battle of dignity in the front lines.
As for the representative of the Fallatta tribe, Ahmed Abdel-Jabbar, he said that signing the Nairobi Charter, which aims to establish a parallel state, is a deception of the international community, as the signatories only represent themselves, pointing out that the Sudanese people preferred to support the armed forces in the war of dignity.
He said that the Rapid Support Militia was funded by a number of aggressive and hostile countries with the aim of destroying the unity of the country, pointing out that signing the Nairobi document only represents personal interests and does have any impact beyond the wall where it was signed.
Meanwhile the representative of the Bargo tribe, Engineer Ibrahim Issa, has condemned what happened in Kenya, stressing the coalition’s support for the armed forces with all resources available.
For his part, the representative of the Salamat tribe, Ali Abdel-Makram, stressed the need to present a corrective message to the inconsistent tampering that took place in Kenya, pointing out to the importance of working to neutralize the Nairobi act which requires unity and serious work.
