Coordinating Forum for State Education Directors to Be Held in Khartoum State

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr Ahmed Khalifa Omar, has announced that the third coordinating forum for state education directors will soon be held in Khartoum State, noting that research papers and working papers will be presented during the event. Based on these, the start date of the academic calendar will be determined, as part of efforts to restore the educational system.
Speaking on Thursday at the conference to announce the delayed 2024 intermediate certificate results in Khartoum State, Khalifa affirmed that educational experts are capable of addressing the disruptions to the academic calendar caused by the war. He pointed out that the ministry has developed a condensed curriculum, the printing of which will be covered by UNICEF and UNESCO. This is a tested curriculum used in emergency education settings and is designed to accelerate learning for states that have fallen behind due to conflict.
The Undersecretary stated that Khartoum State is now achieving success after success across all sectors, and that the announcement of these exam results — with such a high success rate — is a strong indication that the state has become safe and stable. He urged families to return to Khartoum, adding that the federal ministry has been operating within the state for over three weeks, in line with directives from the Sovereignty Council, to support efforts to restore stability.
Khalifa also warned that some versions of school textbooks currently in circulation are unapproved and unreviewed by the Ministry and the Curriculum Centre. He explained that some private schools had requested certain printing presses to produce these books, prompting the Curriculum Centre to issue a warning notice prohibiting their use. He emphasised that schools must consult the Centre before reprinting any schoolbook to ensure it is officially approved.
He concluded by reaffirming that the Curriculum Centre is the sole authorised and responsible body for this matter.
