Blue Nile Governor Affirms Stability in the Region

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

Prime Minister Kamil Idris was briefed on the overall security, economic, and social conditions in the Blue Nile region during a meeting in Khartoum today with the region’s Governor, Ahmed Al-Omda Badi.

In a press statement, Governor Al-Omda said the meeting discussed a number of issues of concern to the region, most notably repelling what he described as a blatant attack by rebel militias on border areas, ensuring the success of the agricultural season, as well as the economic situation and the conditions of displaced persons and returnees from the Republic of South Sudan.

Badi affirmed that the situation in the Blue Nile region is stable, stressing that the Sudanese Armed Forces maintain full control over the territory.

The Governor also expressed their aspiration for a visit by the Prime Minister to assess on the ground the achievements of the regional government and the progress made in implementing the “100-Day Program,” which he said has received strong public engagement and support.
