Bank of Sudan Urges WB to Fulfill Obligations to Conflict-Afflicted Countries
Washington – Sudanhorizon
The Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan (CBS), Amina Mirghani, has urged the World Bank and its affiliated financial institutions to fulfill their obligations to member states without delay, particularly fragile states ravaged by conflict.
This came during the annual Spring Meetings currently held in Washington, D.C., where the Governor is leading the Sudanese delegation to the meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of the African Group at the World Bank. The meeting addressed the economic performance of the group’s countries during 2025 and developments during the first quarter of 2026.
In her address to the meeting, the Governor noted that the Sudanese economy had managed to withstand and overcome the effects of the April 15, 2023 war, and that economic indicators showed the beginning of recovery by the end of 2025.
She explained that her country has continued to face the challenges stemming from the repercussions of the war in the Middle East, relying entirely on its own resources without any external support or financing from international and regional financial institutions.
