Army Spokesman to Sudanhorizon: Internal Matters of the Army Not Be Subject to Public Debate

Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Mousa
The official spokesman for the Sudanese Armed Forces, Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah, affirmed that transfers, retirements, and appointments are a regular tradition within the Armed Forces, just like in any other army in the world.
In an exclusive statement to Sudanhorizon, Abdullah said that people may have forgotten about this regular practice because the circumstances of the war had delayed this annual process for a relatively long time. He stressed that such internal administrative arrangements of the army should not be a matter for public debate, noting that they are governed by the regulations and laws of the Armed Forces and the conditions for continued active service. Therefore, he added, they should not be subject to speculation or interpretation outside the framework of the Armed Forces.
A few days ago, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Chairman of the Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, issued broad military decisions that included the promotion of several officers and the retirement of others. The decisions sparked considerable debate over their timing, with some suggesting they were an attempt to remove Islamists from within the army.
