Ambassadors Depart to Take Up Posts Amid Signs of Improved Financial Situation

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
The Chairman of the Sovereign Council, Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, has instructed a group of ambassadors departing for foreign missions to work diligently for developing and strengthening Sudan’s foreign relations.
Al-Burhan bade farewell on Tuesday in Port Sudan to ambassador Khaled Shukri, who is heading to Mali; ambassador Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, who is leaving for Zimbabwe; and ambassador Osman Abu Fatima, who is travelling to South Africa; while ambassador Al-Hadi Al-Siddiq will go to Venezuela.
Sudan’s ambassador to Mali, Khaled Shukri, said in a press statement that the ambassadors listened to directives from the Chairman of the Sovereign Council aimed at supporting Sudan’s foreign relations and strengthening joint cooperation, especially during the current phase the country is going through.
He added that these directives aim to serve the interests of Sudan and its people with neighboring African and Latin American states.
Shukri expressed Sudan’s aspiration and keenness to advance and strengthen cooperation with these countries.
The departure of the four ambassadors to assume their duties as heads of Sudanese diplomatic missions in three African countries and one in Latin America, is seen as a new boost amid expectations of an improvement in the government’s financial situation.
Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had implemented an austerity plan that required reducing missions, not sending ambassadors, and replacing them with acting chargés d’affaires.
