Al-Merreikh in Nouakchott to participate in Mauritania’s Premier League

Nouakchott – Sudanhorizon

The Sudanese Al-Merreikh team arrived at Nouakchott airport Tuesday morning, coming from Rabat, to participate in the Mauritanian Premier League with Al-Hilal.
The squad management is due to meet with the Competitions Committee of the Mauritanian Federation to review the details of the competition regulations

Sudanhorizon has learned that a trend had emerged in the Board of Directors to move the club’s executive management offices from Cairo to Nouakchott.
The Red Club’s Board of Directors formed a small committee to find out the reasons behind the team’s failure to qualify for the next stage of the African Clubs Championship, losing to the Royal Moroccan Army in the second preliminary round by two goals to zero.
According to sources, the Italian technical director, Giovanni, continues in his position with broader powers, with the task of preparing a technical report specifying the requirements in this stage
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) had informed the Mauritanian and Sudanese federations of its approval for the participation of Al Hilal and Al Merreikh of Sudan in the Mauritanian Premier League for the 2024-2025 season.
FIFA confirmed that approving the two teams to play in the Mauritanian League is the responsibility of FIFA, not CAF.
