Al-Ahly of Egypt has set a date with Al-Hilal of Sudan in the quarter-finals of the African Champions League after losing at home (1-2) to the South African “Orlando” and taking second place in its group.

Al-Hilal of Sudan closed the file of its loss, by four goals, to Congolese Mazembe last Saturday, and announced early preparations for the anticipated confrontation.

The team’s technical director, Abiji Florent, said in press statements commenting on the loss: “We are in the lead, but I do not hide from you that I miss my main team, and I am worried about the suspensions that may affect us in the next stage. Therefore, I decided to exclude Coulibaly, Madiki, and Jean-Claude, as their presence in the next round is much more important to me than the Mazembe match.”

Florent sent a message to Al Hilal fans, saying: “To Al Hilal fans, don’t blame me, these players are part of Al Hilal’s roster, and they were given the opportunity to prove themselves. Don’t rush to make judgments, we are on the right track, and we are all striving to achieve more accomplishments.” He added: “If one of the team’s pillars stops in the coming stages, it will undoubtedly affect us, so it was necessary for us to take a risk. The absence of the trio Abdul Raouf, Salah Adel, and Pogba had a big impact on the team. So, don’t blame me alone.”
