Al-Burhan Replaces Police Chief

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on Wednesday issued decrees introducing changes in the leadership of the police, including the dismissal of the Director General and his deputy, and the appointment of replacements.
The Sovereign decision comes just days after a series of reshuffles and retirements affecting the Sudanese Armed Forces’ General Staff and senior officers.
According to a police spokesperson’s statement, the decrees included the dismissal of First Lieutenant General of Police (Legal) Khalid Hassan Mohieddin from his position as Director General of the Police Forces, and Lieutenant General Mohamed Ibrahim Awadallah from his role as Deputy Director General – Inspector General.
The decisions also included the promotion of Police Lieutenant General (Legal) Amir Abdel Moneim Fadl to the rank of First Lieutenant General and his appointment as Director General of the Police Forces, along with the promotion of Police Major General (Legal) Al-Tahir Ali Mohamed Al-Baloula to the rank of Lieutenant General, and his appointment as Deputy Director General and Inspector General.
The spokesperson noted that these changes were made as part of the administrative arrangements of the Ministry of Interior and the Police Presidency for 2025.
The new Police Chief, First Lieutenant General Amir Abdel Moneim, has held several senior posts within the Ministry of Interior and Police Headquarters, most recently serving as Chief of Khartoum State Police throughout the war period.
Sudan’s police continue to face serious challenges in carrying out their duties in the capital Khartoum, particularly amid the destruction and looting that have struck security and administrative infrastructure, and the widespread presence of armed gangs terrorizing civilians across various parts of the city.
