Al-Burhan: No Military Presence Within Sudan’s Capital

The Chairman of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has reaffirmed the state’s support for Khartoum State’s security plans, stressing the importance of enhancing the capabilities of the security forces working to secure the capital by providing the latest technologies in electronic surveillance and building the technical and training capacities of the forces participating in maintaining security.
During his meeting on Monday with the Khartoum State Security Coordination Committee – in the presence of Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza and members of the committee – Gen Burhan discussed the security situation in detail, the current challenges, and the efforts being made to establish stability and enforce the rule of law.
The Chairman of the Sovereign Council explained that supporting the state’s security plans comes within the framework of the state’s efforts to enhance stability and create a suitable environment for citizens to return to the capital and resume their normal lives. He directed the need for close coordination between the various security and executive bodies to improve the efficiency of rapid response to threats.
Burhan instructed the security committee to develop new and innovative mechanisms to secure the capital, especially with the approach of Ramadan, which witnesses a surge in commercial and social activity. He emphasized the need to secure markets, public gathering places, and vital services to ensure public safety.
Burhan also stressed the continued enforcement of strict measures to prevent the movement of unlicensed vehicles eliminate military presence within the capital, and continue efforts to remove informal settlements and implement campaigns to regulate the illegal presence of foreigners in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
