Al-Burhan: Crimes Committed by the Dagalo Terrorist Militia Will Not Go Unpunished

Sudanese Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan declared that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) crimes would not go unpunished.
In a post on platform X, Al-Burhan stated, “The more the Dagalo terrorist militia continues to spill the blood of innocent civilians, the stronger the resolve of the Sudanese people to resist them.”
He added, “The violations of international humanitarian law and crimes against humanity will not go unpunished, making it impossible to tolerate this terrorist militia.”
In a related statement, Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “The villages and towns of East Al-Gezira and Al-Butana are facing retaliatory attacks from the Janjaweed militia following the defection of some of its leaders. These attacks target civilians based on tribal and regional identities, amounting to genocide and ethnic cleansing.”
The ministry noted that the death toll from these criminal campaigns is estimated in the hundreds, with many injured and thousands forcibly displaced from their villages.
The Sudanese government has called on the international community to immediately and strongly condemn these attacks, take measures to hold the perpetrators and leaders of the terrorist militia accountable and halt the flow of weapons and mercenaries to them.
The statement added, “The international community’s silence and indifference to these crimes only encourage the militia and its regional backers to continue committing massacres and acts of genocide without fear of punishment.”
Last Sunday, the Office of the Armed Forces Spokesperson announced that the RSF commander in Al-Gezira State, Abu Aqla Kikil, along with a large contingent of his forces, had defected to join the Sudanese army, pledging to fight alongside them.
Over five consecutive days, the militia has launched retaliatory campaigns in East Al-Gezira, resulting in hundreds of civilian casualties, forced displacement, and widespread human rights abuses.
