Al-Burhan Backs El Fasher Truce as Guterres Hails Kamil Idris Appointment

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, agreed to the call of UN Secretary-General António Guterres to declare a week-long humanitarian truce in El Fasher locality in support of UN efforts and to facilitate the delivery of relief to thousands of citizens trapped there. The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council emphasized the importance of implementing the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council received a phone call from the UN Secretary-General, who welcomed the appointment of Dr. Kamil Idris as Prime Minister.
A press release issued by the Transitional Sovereignty Council’s media, on Friday, stated that Guterres affirmed the United Nations’ support for this step towards completing the civilian transition.
During the phone call, Al-Burhan reaffirmed his commitment to forming a government of independents that would assume full executive authority.
