Agar Addresses Media Workshop and Commends the Armed Forces
Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar, stated that the claim by the UAE that the Sudanese Armed Forces targeted the UAE ambassador’s residence in Khartoum is nothing but slander, emphasising that the army has not attacked any diplomatic premises even though the rebels have been using many of them as military barracks.
He added that even though the war is taking place inside cities, the armed forces are conducting the operations with high professionalism.
Agar made these remarks during the opening speech at the training workshop on radio professions and professional radio performance, organised by the General Authority for Radio and Television in cooperation with the Red Sea State Radio and Television Authority and the Arab States Broadcasting Union. The workshop was attended by the Ministers of Culture, Information, and Labor and the Governor of the Red Sea State.
The Deputy Chairman urged media professionals and institutions to adhere to professionalism and expertise in media work. This would contribute to building the Sudanese state through a comprehensive national project that will lead the country to broader horizons post-war. He said this should be done based on well-defined visions that achieve satisfaction, social justice, and citizenship without discrimination.
Agar also noted the approval of the proposed organisational structure for state authorities, which was discussed at the recent Conference of State Governors.
He praised the performance of the General Authority for Radio and Television and its employees, highlighting the information and news provided by Sudanese Radio despite the upheavals, rapid technological advancements, and the expansion of the digital space. The radio, he said, has maintained its prestigious status.
For his part, Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Graham Abdel Qader said that his ministry is working through a series of workshops to prepare comprehensive and professional media personnel who will build and enhance the value of cultural diversity and contribute to sustainable development while deepening national unity and reconciliation. He explained that the workshop aims to professionally and technically upgrade employees’ skills to keep up with technological developments, including artificial intelligence technology.
Dr. Graham pointed out that media professionals have borne the burden of destroying their institutions by the rebel militia, and the people have suffered the absence of printed newspapers and the silencing of many local radio stations. He noted that efforts to rehabilitate and provide resources for the National Television are progressing well, with arrangements being made for the connection of a reliable power line and the provision of a backup generator, ensuring improved image and sound quality. He revealed that the Red Sea and Nile River Channels would resume operations soon.
Meanwhile, the Governor of the Red Sea State, Lieutenant-General Mustafa Mohamed Nour, said that the state takes pride in owning the first state-level channel in Sudan, which has a presence in both rural and urban areas as well as neighbouring countries. He stressed the state’s commitment to developing and upgrading media institutions and training personnel, announcing the return of the Red Sea Channel’s broadcast.
The governor expressed his hope that the Red Sea State will become a global media hub. He also recommended using the workshop topics to produce advanced content that meets the needs and aspirations of the state’s residents and Sudan at large.
Additionally, the Director-General of the General Authority for Radio and Television, Ibrahim El-Bazai, stated that this training event is focused on capacity-building and enhancing professional performance in visual and audio media, in line with the resolutions of the recent Conference of State Governors. He also emphasised that this workshop is one of the fruits of the memorandum of understanding with Chinese media and the training protocol signed between the Authority and the Arab States Broadcasting Union, aimed at embodying the professionalism and expertise of radio and television. He added that the workshop targets the General Authority for Radio and Television employees, the Red Sea Radio and Television Authority, Radio Biladi, and all media professionals in Port Sudan.
