Africa Energy Summit Begins, Sudan Among Participants

The United Republic of Tanzania, in cooperation with the African Development Bank, is hosting the African Energy Summit, which will start today and last for two days (January 27th to the 28th, 2025). According to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic in Tanzania, the summit will be attended by the heads of 24 African countries; representatives of 21 African heads of state and government; and heads of (6) international institutions, including the President of the World Bank, the President of the African Bank, and the President of the Rockefeller Institute. Five (5) development partners will participate in the meeting.
In addition, approximately 2,600 working groups and other participants from inside and outside Tanzania have registered to participate in the conference, according to the presidential statement.
Participating countries include Algeria, Comoros, Liberia, Lesotho, Botswana, Kenya, Ghana, Gabon, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Sudan, Malawi, Zambia, Somalia, Guinea-Bissau, Burundi, Mauritania, Republic of Congo, Madagascar, Democratic Republic of Congo, Libya, Nigeria, Djibouti and Gabon.
The summit is expected to be a landmark event in boosting Africa’s efforts to achieve sustainable energy solutions for the continent’s economic and social transformation and shaping the future of Africa’s energy sector.
