Celebrations in El Obeid 0n Liberation of Bara Area

El Obeid – Sudanhorizon
The residents of El Obeid, capital of North Kordofan State, came out in the streets in jubilations to celebrate the expulsion of the Rapid Support Forces(RSF) from the city of Bara.
Taking control of Bara is an important step, as it represents a strategic location and was used by the militia as a launching pad for attacking El Obeid, regional capital of North Kordofan State. Bara served as a supply point for the militia from western Sudan to Omdurman during its presence in Khartoum.
Sudanhorizon has learned from informed sources that the city was almost empty of residents who had fled to El Obeid.
Over the course of several months, the militia, backed by mercenaries from South Sudan, expanded its violations. These forces carried out looting operations in the streets and markets, stormed into citizens’ homes and forcibly seized them, forcibly displacing a number of families from their homes to El Obeid.
Addressing the mass rally, North Kordofan State Governor Abdel Khaliq Abdel Latif said that Bara victory is a gift to the Sudanese people and the armed forces, especially the Camel Corps, the main army unit in the Kordofan region.
He declared that the state government and its people’s readiness to return the favor to the joint forces and continue to defeat the rebellion in Darfur after it was defeated every corner of Kordofan.
Abdel Latif indicated that the region represents a new starting point for further victories and commended the region’s citizens for their patience in the face of the Rapid Support Forces’ violations.
