In Partnership with FAO, Agriculture Ministry Launches Seed Distribution for Small Farmers

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced the start of distributing seeds for small farmers to the states, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), as part of the ministry’s plan for the 2025-2026 summer agricultural season.
The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, emphasized the close cooperation between the ministry and FAO. He explained in press statements, on Wednesday, that the ministry is making every effort to ensure the success of the summer agricultural season, praising the high level of cooperation and coordination with the ministries of production and agriculture in the states.
For her part, Dr. Mona Osman, Director General of the General Administration of Seeds, confirmed that all procedures for providing the season’s seeds were carried out under the direct supervision of the administration, emphasizing that all seeds are improved, certified, and fully comply with established procedures. She praised the administration’s staff for their great efforts in completing the season’s seed provision plan, expressing her satisfaction with the extensive cooperation and coordination with the FAO office in Sudan.
The Director General of the General Administration of Agricultural Production at the Ministry, Agricultural Engineer Fatima Youssef, said that the distribution of seeds will include all Sudanese states and irrigated projects according to the indicative plan set by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for the current summer agricultural season and that the Ministry has completed its readiness to make the agricultural season a success like its predecessors, stressing the expansion of cultivated areas after the army’s recent victories and its liberation of several production areas.
