Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Heads Sudan’s Delegation to Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meetings

Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil, headed the Sudanese delegation participating in the preparatory meetings of the Council of the League of Arab States at the foreign ministerial level for the Arab and economic summits scheduled to be held the day after tomorrow, on Saturday, in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The opening session of the meeting witnessed the handover of the presidency of the current session from the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of Iraq, in addition to the adoption of all resolutions approved by the meeting of permanent representatives, which included items related to Arab national security and the Palestinian issue.

The Ministerial Council approved the item on supporting peace and development in Sudan and affirmed its full solidarity with the Sudanese government and people in their efforts to secure the country’s resources and protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity. It also stressed the need to reject foreign interference, preserve national institutions, and prevent their collapse.

The Council noted that Sudan’s security is an integral part of Arab national security, emphasizing the importance of the Arab League’s role in supporting the unity and stability of member states.

The council called on Arab countries and organizations to provide humanitarian and developmental support, emphasizing the importance of a ceasefire in accordance with the Jeddah Declaration and resuming the negotiation process through the Jeddah Mechanism.

In his speech, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil emphasized Sudan’s call for the importance of preserving state institutions and avoiding a slide into chaos. He pointed to the government’s humanitarian and development efforts despite the challenges. Al-Fadil expressed Sudan’s appreciation for the supportive Arab positions, emphasizing Sudan’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Arab League and its institutions, especially in light of the next phase of reconstruction and state-building.

Sudan’s participation in the ministerial meetings affirms its commitment to Arab dialogue and its efforts to strengthen partnerships with Arab countries to serve the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability, and development.
