Bahri

By: Dr. Eiman Abbas El-Nour

The Nile runs through it

The sun never fails to

Warm its bones

And I see it in all my dreams

I walk the streets Looking for my people

I call their precious names

The echo comes back saying

They are nowhere to be seen

Their laughter lingers in the

Vacant courtyard

Mixed with their unfinished tales

I see the yellow walls of my house

I close my eyes

And walk in haste

This whole town is my home

This lonely river runs through my veins
