Blinken Expresses U.S. Appreciation for Egypt’s Role in Securing Peace in the Region

The U.S. Department of State has expressed its appreciation for Egypt’s role in securing peace in the Arab region and commended the strategic partnership between the two nations.

In a press statement, the Department of State noted that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke by phone on Saturday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty. During the call, the two ministers discussed the latest developments in ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, ensure the release of hostages, increase the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and bring an end to the war.

The statement also mentioned that the two ministers addressed the situation in Syria. Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the United States support for a peaceful and inclusive political transition, led and owned by Syrians, toward a representative and accountable government.

Blinken further expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s continued efforts to secure peace in the region and emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between the United States and Egypt.
