Namibian President: National Consensus Solutions Must Be Sudanese-Led

Sudanese Ambassador Osman Abu-Fatima Adam presented his credentials as Sudan’s non-resident ambassador to Namibia to Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the President of Namibia, during an official ceremony at the Presidential Palace in the capital, Windhoek,
Wednesday.
The Ambassador conveyed greetings from the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, along with wishes for Namibia and its people for continued progress and prosperity, affirming Sudan’s commitment to strengthening friendly relations and cooperation between the two nations.
He briefed the Namibian President on the situation in Sudan and the humanitarian repercussions of the war waged by the foreign backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, as well as government efforts to create conditions for a Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue. He emphasized the importance of preserving Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and of halting foreign interventions that prolong the conflict.
The Namibian President welcomed the Ambassador and affirmed her country’s solidarity with the Sudanese people and its aspiration for peace. She stressed the importance of national consensus and solutions led by the Sudanese people themselves, highlighting Namibia’s own experience in achieving peace and stability.
The meeting also addressed the implementation of the memorandum of understanding on the political consultation mechanism signed between the two countries in 2020, as well as the importance of convening the mechanism’s inaugural session as soon as possible to discuss cooperation across various sectors—including mining, agriculture, and education—and to foster ties between the business communities. The President emphasized the need to begin preparations now for post-war economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
The Ambassador expressed his commitment to expanding the bilateral partnership and strengthening coordination between the two countries in regional and international forums, particularly the African Union and the United Nations.
