Bank of Khartoum Apologizes for Disruptions to Electronic Services
Sudanhorizon – Follow-up
The Bank of Khartoum has reiterated its apology to customers for the service fluctuations experienced recently across its electronic platforms, most notably the “Bankak” Apps.
The bank confirmed that technical teams are working around the clock to resolve these issues and ensure service stability.
In a press statement, the bank announced the launch of a comprehensive, ongoing program to upgrade and modernize its technical infrastructure through parallel projects, representing the largest investment of its kind in the history of the Sudanese banking sector.
The program aims to establish an integrated ecosystem of primary and backup systems to guarantee service continuity and resilience against emergencies.
The statement explained that, once completed, the new system will be capable of processing over 300 million transactions daily, paving the way for the launch of a diverse range of new banking products and services designed to meet customer expectations.
Bank of Khartoum also announced plans to gradually restore and reactivate several banking services over the coming days. These include individual electronic banking (iBOK), mobile-based payment services (USSD), Point of Sale (POS) terminals, ATMs, and card-based banking services.
The bank emphasized that this modernization and development drive builds upon its historic institutional legacy—dating back to its founding in 1913 as Sudan’s first and oldest bank. It stressed that current challenges are merely a transitional phase within a comprehensive reconstruction and development process aimed at achieving the highest levels of stability and security for banking services in the country.
