Sudan Participates in Seventh China International Investment and Trade Conference and Exhibition in Liaoning

Sudan participated in the seventh edition of the China International Investment and Trade Conference and Exhibition in Liaoning Province, hosted by the city of Shenyang from 23 to 25 September under the theme, “New Momentum for Openness, A New Chapter of Rejuvenation”, with around 3,000 officials and business representatives from more than 50 countries taking part.
Sudanese Radio correspondent in Beijing, Osama Mukhtar, reported that Sudanese Ambassador to China Omar Issa Ahmed attended the opening ceremony, alongside the Governor of Liaoning Province and a number of Chinese and international officials, as well as heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited to China, business leaders, and representatives of Chinese and foreign companies.
In his address during the conference’s main session, the Sudanese ambassador discussed prospects for economic, trade and investment cooperation between Sudan and China, with particular emphasis on opportunities for cooperation with Liaoning Province. He stressed the importance of leveraging the province’s advanced industrial and technological capabilities. He encouraged Chinese companies to explore investment opportunities in Sudan and contribute to its recovery, reconstruction, and development efforts.
The ambassador stressed the importance of moving economic relations between the two countries beyond communication and information exchange toward establishing practical, sustainable projects and partnerships. He noted that Sudan was entering a new phase of economic recovery and reconstruction, opening broad prospects for Chinese companies to participate in projects in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, industry, mining, transport and logistics.
In a related context, the ambassador welcomed the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), including initiatives and programmes aimed at supporting development and industrialisation in Africa and promoting trade and investment. He also expressed Sudan’s support for Chinese policies and initiatives designed to expand opportunities for African products to access the Chinese market.
He noted that Sudan has promising opportunities to increase its exports to the Chinese market, particularly in agricultural, livestock and mineral products, as well as other products in which Sudan enjoys comparative and competitive advantages.
