Sudan and UNDP Agree to Establish Reconstruction Fund

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohieddin Salem, discussed today, Friday, with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Executive Director Alexander De Croo the latest political developments and ways to strengthen cooperation in economic recovery, financial system reform, reconstruction, balanced development, and digital transformation. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting also discussed the outcomes of the recent conference held in Khartoum on ways to strengthen private sector recovery and the importance of supporting the entrepreneurship sector. The conference was organized jointly by UNDP and the Ministry of Finance.

For his part, the UNDP Executive Director affirmed the programme’s continued efforts to advance development in Sudan amid the current challenges and praised the close and ongoing cooperation with the government and relevant stakeholders.

The two sides affirmed the importance of establishing a development fund dedicated to Sudan.
