Former RSF Leader: 70% of the militia’s members side with the SAF but They Fear Retribution
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
Commander Al-Nour Ahmed Adam (Al-Nour Al-Qubba) announced that his forces are fully prepared to deploy to combat zones and operate alongside the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied units to liberate the states of Darfur and Kordofan from the scourge of the rebellion. He asserted that approximately 70% of the militia’s members support SAF but fear being subjected to extrajudicial killing or torture.
Speaking at a seminar regarding defections within the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)—held this Thursday at the Omdurman Cultural Center under the slogan “Returning to the Nation’s Fold is the Path to Peace,” and organized by the Kordofan and Darfur Media Association in cooperation with the Sudan News Agency (SUNA)—Al-Qubba confirmed that his forces would move with SAF and supporting troops to battlefronts in Darfur and Kordofan.
He explained that since his return, he has successfully persuaded numerous commanders to defect from the militia, noting, “Those who have returned outnumber the forces currently under my command.” He pointed out that the militia resorts to liquidating or imprisoning anyone who attempts to break away from its ranks.
Commander Al-Nour Al-Qubba added that the decision to go to war was made by the rebel leader Hemedti, with support and backing from foreign nations, with the aim of tearing the country apart.
