Sudanese Ambassador in Moscow Conveys Appreciation for Russia’s Support During Talks with Deputy Foreign Minister

Sudan’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Mohamed Al-Ghazali Al-Tijani Siraj, conveyed to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenco this morning (Friday) the Sudanese leadership’s appreciation for Russia’s supportive position toward Sudan at the United Nations Security Council, particularly its rejection of equating the Sudanese Army with the rebel militia.

Ambassador Siraj provided a comprehensive briefing on political and security developments in Sudan, highlighting the efforts of state institutions to restore normal life in the country and facilitate the return of all institutions to their headquarters in Khartoum and the resumption of their duties. He also discussed ongoing preparations for the Sudanese national dialogue.

The ambassador explained developments on the ground and the advances made by the Sudanese Armed Forces across various theaters of operations, as well as the logistical support provided to the militia and the opening of supply routes for it through some of Sudan’s neighboring countries.

The meeting also addressed cooperation and coordination between the two countries at international forums, particularly the United Nations Security Council, as well as the inclusion of Sudan on its agenda.

The discussions also touched on the upcoming Russia-Africa Summit scheduled for October. Ambassador Mohamed Al-Ghazali outlined the ongoing preparations for the summit and arrangements for Sudan’s participation, with a delegation led by Chairman of the Sovereignty Council General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.

For his part, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister said that Russia is closely following developments in Sudan. He welcomed the positive developments on the Sudanese political scene and the launch of a Sudanese-led dialogue, describing the step as important for Sudan’s stability.

He also affirmed that Russia looks forward to the active participation of the Sudanese delegation, led by President Al-Burhan, in the summit’s activities.

Deputy Minister Borisenco renewed his affirmation of the strength and resilience of bilateral relations between the two countries and Russia’s steadfast support for Sudan in international forums in a manner that serves the interests of the two friendly countries and preserves Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, particularly within the context of the Security Council’s deliberations on Sudan.
