ECOWAS Affirms Support for Sudan’s Stability

Sudan’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohamed Abdel-Aal Haroun, presented his credentials to the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, Omar Aliou Touré, on Wednesday, as Sudan’s representative to the this African economic group.
The President of the Commission emphasized the importance of the shared historical ties between Sudan and ECOWAS member states, expressing the group’s keenness to strengthen its relations with Sudan and support its stability and return to its natural and influential role on the African continent.

For his part, the Ambassador conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, affirming Sudan’s commitment to developing its relations with ECOWAS and its member states, and enhancing channels of communication and joint cooperation.
The Ambassador reviewed the developments in Sudan, the government’s efforts to achieve security and stability, the initiatives proposed to end the war, and the developments on the ground, refuting the narratives promoted by the Rapid Support Forces militia regarding the nature of the war.
