Agricultural Bank Announces Start of Second-Phase Financing Procedures for Farming Season by End of Month

The Agricultural Bank of Sudan has announced that procedures for financing the second phase of the current agricultural season will begin by the end of this month.

The bank’s Director General, Salah Al-Din Mohammed Abdelrahim, said the Agricultural Bank of Sudan has made significant efforts to support the agricultural season and provide farmers with the necessary financing, contributing to supporting producers and meeting their needs throughout the farming season.

Speaking to farmers in Gedaref State in the city of Gedaref, in the presence of State Governor Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Hassan, Federal Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Professor Ismat Qurashi Abdullah, and his accompanying delegation, the director general said the bank had succeeded in providing financing for the first phase of the agricultural season, according to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA).

Salah Al-Din explained that the bank is working to complete arrangements for the second phase of financing, noting that a number of banks are expected to contribute to establishing the financing portfolio.

He said the Agricultural Bank of Sudan is moving toward developing banking services provided to the agricultural sector. He stressed that the bank is one of the country’s largest banking institutions in terms of capital and geographical reach, enabling it to serve a broad segment of farmers and producers across different parts of Sudan.

The bank’s director general also revealed that the digital agricultural platform is expected to be launched soon in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and the Ministry of Digital Transformation. He explained that the platform represents an important step toward developing and facilitating services related to agricultural operations and promoting digital transformation in the agricultural sector.

He added that the bank is also working to develop infrastructure supporting production and storage, revealing that an agreement has been signed with a Chinese company to establish grain silos as part of the bank’s efforts to support storage operations and strengthen the infrastructure of the agricultural sector.
